    time-based recording - possible?

    Hi,

after using the free version for some time I now bought the full version. I have two questions about dMC Auxiliary Input:

    1) I want to record something from 20:00 to 21:00 without being home - is it somehow possible?

    2) Could I set it to time-stamp a file? I don't want always Track1.mp3 but something like 2004-12-18_18-32-05.mp3.

    Thanks!

Do you mean like programming a recording from a radio or tv feed to your pc?
Hmmm, not sure this can be handled through dMC directly or easily. I think you can do this using SDP through the VCR function.

Will have to look into this a bit.

You can set the file name to whatever you want it to be. But not variable (like with a time stamp).

Yes, I want to record something from radio. I also considered using something like Power Mixer, but don't want to spend the extra money...

I also tested the tool Messer which allows time-based recordings, but that is buggy and is not under development any more.

I think the best program for that is Total Recorder (http://www.highcriteria.com/). It costs $12 and you can program it to record just like a VCR. Also has the option of recording in wave, mp3 or OGG formats.
If you are recording from internet radio or from a separate radio via your computer line-in, OGG at 64 Kb/sec should be more than adequate.
