How about you just hit the pause button in dAP instead of stop? it might just put it on hold and not start automatically for no good reason.
I seem to have found the reason the audio goes to garbage when I use the CD drive. Apparently, if you get repeated CRC or IO errors in WinXP on your CD drive, Windows turns your drive to PIO mode to help you get the data correctly, albeit slower. I was also struggling with the problem where the player would stop playing in random mode, so I guess it was paused.
(I have since upgraded to the new beta and that problem is now sorted.)
I've only converted to dBpowerAmp yesterday, so still not used to when the player is paused or stopped, but I tried it now and if the player is stopped. It does not start to play automatically when you start to rip.
