    Now I've done it - Auxiliary/player broke.

Last night i did some conversions - all worked well.

This morning i wanted to continue converting -
    a. Using the Auxiliary, i get no recording level (test or record). the bar just dont move. unless i turn up the volume to 3/4 (meaning its there but i really
    have to crank it up).

    b. No sound from player (playing a wav). Got this one fixed, something had
changed the AMP setting to DirectX. Reset to waveout

    b. I deleted the dBpowerAMP folder and restored everything from a backup
copy (not zipped, original good files). No luck there.

    d. Only problem is Auxiliary dont show any test or recording level.

    ???????? Help ????????

my only suggestion is to check your multimedia properties. and why directx doesn't work i don't know. it should do. so it sounds like some setting in your multimedia properties went hay wire.

      Razgo,
      I checked -
      CP>System>Hardware>DeviceManager>Sound Video>Audio codec>Properties

Looks like the Lame codec is gone. This is what shows (no lame):
      Fraunhofer IIs
      MS ADPCM
      MS Adaptive PCM Audio CoDec
      MS G.711
      WMA Codec
      MS GSM 6.10
      DSP Group TrueSpeech
      MS G.723.1
      Spiro Lab Telecom
      Indeo
      MS PCM Converter
      Ogg Vorbis
      AC3 ACM Decompressor.

      (pardon the abbreviations).

dBpower shows a subfolder called Compression>Lame
      - containing two files: COPYING and lame_enc.dll.
And as files under the Compression folder i show:
      Mp3 (Lame).dll and
      mp3 (Lame.exe).dll
I also see Wave.dll and Windows Media Audio V9.dll

      So whats missing?
I re-installed dBpowerAMP Music Converter Release 11 (no change).

      thanks,
      clif

Did you take a look at the Volume controls? The options for recording in particular? What's selected? For playback? What's muted or got the volume slider down?

          Hi Christina,

In the volume controls i have:
Definition of initial (caps) NM =Not muted, M = Muted

          PLAY CONTROL:
          Wave - maxed NM
          MIDI Synth - maxed NM
          Auxiliary2 - maxed NM
          Line-In 2/Mic 2 - maxed NM
          S/PDIF-In - maxed M
          CD Digital - maxed M
          Auxiliary - maxed NM
          CD Audio maxed NM
          Line-In - maxed NM
          TAD-In maxed M
          Mic - maxed NM

          RECORDING:
          MIDI Synth - maxed NM
          Line-In 2/Mic2 - maxed NM
          What-u-Hear - maxed NM
          Analog Mix - maxed NM
          Wave - maxed NM

          Players:
          Winamp - maxed NM
          Creative - maxed NM
dBAMP-Player - boost, volume maxed NM (have to turn up the volume to make
it equal same volume as winamp, creative players).
          Windows Media Player: maxed NM
          MPC - maxed NM

Thats all the options/players i have. All settings for record are maxed.
I re-installed the latest dBplayer and Amp but no help....

          confused,

For recording only one input source should be selected, not all of them.

Darn (actually, much stronger language can be inserted here!), i really hate it
when i mess up like this!
Found it. Last thing i did last night was do a test recording from new stereo
system, headphones to line-in. Then i unplugged all of it. This AM, i forgot to
                reset the Input source>select> "what-u-hear" (vs line-in).

Sorry for the confusion (and wasted bandwidth), I'll go stand in the corner and
go to bed without supper. Now wheres my dunce cap?

                thanks all,
                savagcl
