    Re: MP3 ~MP3 convert question

Try to test convert your mp3. This is done in the dBpowerAMP Music Converter Window in the spot where you select mp3 as the format for your output file. Instead of selecting mp3 select "Test Conversion (No Write)".

If the test conversion works, can you convert your mp3 file to wav? If so, can you convert the wav file to mp3 at 112 kbs.? Also, do you have other mp3 files that do allow you to convert them to lower bitrate? If this happens with all mp3 files, can you convert other file formats ok (say wav to wma or ogg or vice versa)?

What version of Music Converter are you using (the 10.1 standard version or the r 11 beta version)? Also, please tell us the bit setting, number of channels and frequency for the mp3 file you are trying to convert (unless this is a general problem with all of your mp3 files).

    Good luck and best wishes,
    Bill Mikkelsen

Also, what OS are you using? Will the file play in your audio player?

Test convert cannot read just that particular input file? or it cannot read any mp3 files?

Can you play that particular mp3 file in Windows Media Player or any other player?

I'm not sure what you did here. Are you talking about the Lame.exe codec or a new dll
you got from somewhere and tried to fit into your existing dMC Lame codec? Where did this Lame .dll come from? If it is associated with the latest r11 beta version of dMC, that codec can write mp3 but I do not believe that it can read mp3 files (since the Beta version uses a different mp3 decoder known as MAD).

I would recommend that you uninstall dMC (from the Control Panel Add/Remove Programs section). If the Lame codec shows up there, uninstall that as well. Reinstall dMC 10.1 and you should be ok.

            Best wishes,
