HELP PLEASE : CODEC decompression error

I am quite new to all this and I am trying to Rip from CD to MP3

I am getting the following error message :

    "

    CODEC decompression error for '\\CdRom\Track01.cda'
Unable to Rip track - make sure correct Ripping method is selected and CD Drive supports digital audio extraction.

    "

I am selecting "Rip to MP3Lame

The drive I am using was works with WMP10 and Sony OpenMG, it is an LG

So I am stuck now..... can anyone help me please "in Layman terms" ???

Thanks in advance - Will - London England

Assuming you do have the codec for MP3 (either you got the older version of dMC (R10) or you got the new one (R11) plus the PowerPack), try each of these manoeuvres and test after each one:

    1) In Audio CD Input > Options - click on right arrow > Standard CD Player Emulation > turn Table of Contents Detection off
    2) In Audio CD Input > Options > CD drive > Advanced > check the Cd Communication & try different settings (2000/NT Built-in (Limited) may work for you)
    3) In Audio CD Input > Options > CD drive > Advanced > check Command Set and try different settings

Please let us know what, if anything, worked.

Christina - thank you I got as far as :

      2) In Audio CD Input > Options > CD drive > Advanced > check the Cd Communication & try different settings (2000/NT Built-in (Limited) may work for you)

      and it is working.

If I move on the your stage 3 will it increase the rip speed on different settings or shall I go with "if aint broke don't fix it" ??

      Many thanks Will

I'd stick with the "If it ain't broke, leave it alone" principle. I don't think changing the command set will improve your ripping speed.
