How do convert Realone encode mp3 to wave?

I got this mp3 which I d/l that can only play in Realplayer & not any other player like the popular winamp etc. Later I figure it out that it was encode by Realone & I can't convert it to any other format like wave. Is there a way to do so?

It may be the case that your file is copy-protected. In that case you might try burning the track to cd (we have had a report that Nero can do this, other burners may also be capable of the same task as well) and re-ripping it to your desired format or recording it off of your sound card using dMC Auxilary Input (for which see Christina's FAQ on this topic in the FAQ section of the forum for dMC here: http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?t=5362).

These tips is assume that your file has an mp3 file extension. If the file has some other file extension please let us know.

    Hope this helps.
    Best wishes,

If no player can play it other than Real One, and it is an mp3 file, I doubt that Nero can even burn it. Real has a cd burning facility it seems, so if that's possible, use that and burn an audio cd with the file, and then re-rip it.
As Bill said, check the extension of the file ( http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?t=5361 ).

It is certainly a mp3 file. It was confirmed by the person who pass me this mp3 that it is encoded by Realone. I read from the net that Realone encoded mp3 is disencourage from P2P due to its uniqueness. And although I can play with realplayer, I don't have Realone & RealJuke Box also don't support this mp3 so the burning to CD thing maynot work out too. Anyone who have Realone, can u try & let me know?

I do hope someone can provide a solution to break this Realone encoder curse Record it as wave when it play may seem fine but it'll lost its clarity more or less......

Like it or not you`ll have to get Real One or Real Player. How do you plan to even play this file otherwise? if it's encrypted by Real One, then only Real One may play it. But hang on a mo, if it's not your file to start with, maybe only its legal ownwer can play it on thei rown pc wheern the file was first acquired. This means that you cannot record it through dMC Auxiliary Input.

I do have Realplayer that why I said I can play. But Real Player does not come with Burning CD function so I can't use the method of burning it to CD then convert again.

Re: How do convert Realone encode mp3 to wave?

I finally manage to convert the mp3!! As what other say that Realone encoder has its uniqueness, it is unique in the sense that the mp3 it encoded is actually .ra file although it give extension of mp3! The person who pass me this mp3 told me it is a mp3 she encoded with Realone so I didn’t suspect the true extension of the song, I believe she also don’t know the mp3 she encoded is actually a ra file. I rename the extension from .mp3 to .ra then convert it using dBpower music convert and solve my problem.

Would like to share this finding with people here & thanks Christina & Xoas for all the help given.

Oh, I'm really glad you managed to find this out.

Renaming file extensions is tricky and often people think that act alone performs a conversion. In your case you were given an incorreclty name file and you were astute to try renaming it. Whoever named it as mp3 in the first place either didn't know what they were doing or did that on purpose to fool others.

I cannot see any option in Real Player or any of the Real series (including Real Producer) where it can create mp3 files, but then I don't use Real Player for anything other than playing real media files, so I may have missed the option if it were tehre or available as plugin of sorts. Real Player can burn cd's from >View > Burnd/Transfer and you follow the indications there. You must have previously configured it so it knows your burner in Tools > Preferences > CD Burner. More than that you'll have to experiment on your own though :D
