Can you play that file in Windows Media Player?

Can you do a test Conversion in dMC?

What's the error code? What can you tell us about the .asf file? Size, bitrate, anything else? You get that from the tag.

Have you installed everything as recommended at Codec Central at http://www.dbpoweramp.com/codec-central-wma.htm ? performed all the required steps including the reboot?

What format are you trying to convert the file to? what specs?

Also please tell us your Windows version, any service packs that you may have installed, versions of Windows Media Player and of dMC.

Can you play that file in Windows Media Player? No

Can you do a test Conversion in dMC? How do I do that?

What's the error code? What can you tell us about the .asf file? Size, bitrate, anything else? You get that from the tag. There is no error. The program just crashes. The .asf file doesn't have anything in it's tag. All I know is the file is 8188 KB.

Have you installed everything as recommended at Codec Central at http://www.dbpoweramp.com/codec-central-wma.htm ? performed all the required steps including the reboot? Yes.

What format are you trying to convert the file to? what specs? I tried to convert to MP3 at 128 KBPS and WAV at CD quality

Also please tell us your Windows version, any service packs that you may have installed, versions of Windows Media Player and of dMC. XP SP2, WMP 10. I'm not sure my DMC version, I I believe it's the latest.

      that help?

A test conversion is done by telling dMC to conver to Test Conversion (no write) in the list of options.

When you say you cannot play the file in Windows Media player, do you mean the ASF?

Then I'm afraid it's not a real .asf file or it may be corrupted.

If WMP cannot play it it is not a recognized format.

Mind you, there are some issues revolving around WMP 10 and XP & SP2 and I think they are discussed in the Beta section of the forum.

Have you installed all of dMC after SP2 or before? You could uninstall from Control Pannel and get the latest versions of dMC and the codecs and install again.

New release for WMA 9.1. First install the WMA 9.1 system codecs: http://www.dbpoweramp.com/codecs/db-wmfdist95.exe 5MB then the new dBpowerAMP Codec: http://www.dbpoweramp.com/beta/dBpowerAMP-codec-wmav91.exe 210KB
