Re: asx file
Follow the instructions in the threads listed here:
I can't convert this audio file (.asx) to mp3... is this software able to convert? if not.. does anyone know any program can do that..? thanks
This outlines your two possible strategies for converting your .asx file (identifying and saving the wma file within the .asx file OR recognizing you cannot save the wma file within the .asx file and recording the audio as you play it through Windows Media Player).
This is part of a larger thread here:

which may provide you with a little more context for the advice in the specific posting.
If you run into trouble, please feel free to reply, letting us know what you have tried and where you are running into problems.
Good luck and best wishes,

And if you have the actual wma file, then, if you've downloaded the Windows Media codecs from Codec Central and followed all the instructions given on the download page to the letter, what have you tried that hasn't worked? Is the file protected? You can verify this by using dMC and performing a Test Conversion (no write). A protected file cannot be converted. So it's back to dMC Auxiliary Input.
So if the file is not protected:
1. Windows Media Player itself can burn an audio CD for you from your wma files. You need to explore a bit.
2. If you are using dMC CD Writer, then it's just a matter of selecting the type of CD to burn: Standard AUdio CD 74 minutes or else Standard Audio CD 80 minutes, depending on the blank CD you are using. When your cd compilation is all done click on Burn CD and then make sure the correct drive is selected for burning and of course that you have a blank cd in it.
3. If you are not using dMC CD Writer and want to use something like Nero, you'll have to convert your file to WAV first before burning it (unless you also have the Windows Media Plugin for it). Similarly for other cd burning software.
One last word: if the length of your file exceeds the maximum length that can be recorded on the cd (74 or 8o minutes depending on cd length, minus a few minutes for the overhead), you will not be able to burn it as audio cd no matter what you try.
If you've tried all those things and it still doesn't work, please post here your OS, any service packs, versions of dMC software installed, and what type cd burner you have. Also if you have ever been able to burn audio cd's by any other means on yoru system.Comment
