There is a problem when the dMC converts a sound which is short, to a different format. I convert a .wav which is 0:01 long, and try to convert it to a .wav with lower frequencies, and mono, and the file it outputs is 0:00 and is only segments of the sound.

Re: Converting Short Sounds FLAW!
We recently dealt with a similar problem (although in reverse).
Please refer to this thread here:
Hello, I often get these kinds of error messages in the error log dbpoweramp provides at the end of a process where I'm converting a folder of wavs to mono: The CODEC required to compress 'C:\...\Whistle\whistle.wav.TEMP.wav' could not be opened. It's not an ogg vorbis problem, I have that codec installed. I notice
The solution in this case (converting from a lower mono wav frequency to a higher mono wav frequency) turned out to be converting to wma lossless in the higher frequency and then to wav at the higher frequency. I think you will want to try the reverse process (converting your higher frequency wav to wma lossless and then to low frequency wav). Wma had an advantage in that you can use Windows Media Player to sample your intermediate file (the wma file).
Also, please make sure that professional frequency conversion is enabled (through dMC Configuration, Start>All Programs>dBpowerAMP Music Converter>Configuration> dMC Configuration).
Or you may find that one of the other lossless codecs would provide a better intermediate conversion.
If these solutions don't work for you, please let us know what you tried and what your results were. It would also help to know other pertinant facts about your source wav (bit setting, frequency, number of channels) and the desired settings for your output wav file (frequency, bit setting).
Best wishes,

Re: Converting Short Sounds FLAW!
It appears from early testing that the reverse transition from higher frequency wav to lower frequency wav with an intermediate conversion to wma lossless will not work (probably the frquency for wav lossless is too high). I am working on some other possibilities and I will let you know what I find. It would be helpful to know what your desired frequency and bit setting are for your diesired output files (the low frequency wav mono files you are trying to create).
Best wishes,

Re: Converting Short Sounds FLAW!
For your intermediate conversion convert your "high frequency" wav file to Ape or Shorten and then convert to "low frequency" wav.
WMA lossless, Wavepack and Flac did not work in my trials, but either Ape (Monkeys) or Shorten worked fine.
I suspect there is some kind of inherent difficulty in converting from wav to wav that prevents these types of conversions from being able to take place in a single step.
