While the recording mode seems to work ok as well as the converter after recording of a few minutes the file that i get (in mp3 format) includes only a few seconds of the recording - what can be the problem

This may reflect settings for auto-starting and (especially) auto-stopping of tracks.
If you have the Power Pack installed, using the Smart Track Length option may help you. I have found it to be more reliable, although a little more tedious, to manually stop tracks on some recordings. You will find a bit more explanation of these issues in your Help file for dMC Auxilary Input (Start>All Programs>dBpowerAMP Music Converter>Help>dMC Auxilary Input Help).
