    Convert to 5.1, possible?

I picked up dbpoweramp because CPU recomended it. I'm very happy with it but in the small review CPU said dbpa could 'up-convert two-channel sources into four and 5.1 channels...'. If this is possible can someone please tell me how? Thanks.

In dMC you can convert to wav where you set channels to 6'5.1'.

This can be done with some formats and not with others. Even where this happens, the channels will not be truly separate (any more than if you convert a mono file to stereo you will get two channels but not two separate channels).

You can convert a two channel mp3 or other file to wav at 5:1 channels and then convert to wma (Windows Media Audio) v. 9 at 4 channels (but you cannot directly convert from 2 channel mp3 to 4 channel wma). The new Ogg codec (in the Beta Test section of this forum) is supposed to allow you to do more than two channels assuming the source is more than two channels.

I hope this gives you the information you need. If not, please feel free to ask for extra clarification.
