    MP3 File renaming and management

    Hi all,

Since one of my two HDD died round 2wks ago I've been wanting to move out several GBs of MP3 collection out of the disk into CD-Rs.

Well, since these songs came from my own CDs and web (ripped with diff. programs too) the filenames felt wayy disorganized to be put together in a disc. Here's some of the variations:

    01.mp3; 02.mp3; 03.mp3
others with albumname - songname - visit www.source.com.mp3
songname_3943943.mp3 *Musicmatch sometimes made it this way*

Can you tell me if DBPowerAMP's able to rename files based on the MP3's tagging?

I've read from the site 'Power Pack Music Arrange Option' is being worked on (good stuff), is there an alternative we can use in the meantime though?

    Thanks

      Thanks!

This method works very nicely, thanks bud

By the way, is there a way to make the proggy renames the file based on its longer ID3V2 taggings rather than the 30-char ID3V1 tags?

For trance songs, I often found the track name cut much too short..

Thinking you may have overlooked this :(
So, can the ID3 V2 tags be used to rename the files?

        thanks,

It should read id3v2 tags, but saying that the internal fields of dAPs My Music Collection is limited to about 100 characters each for artist, track, album.

            Spoon,

is there a switch that i must tick somewhere to make it read V2 tags? I've played around with the Music Collection menus but it still only name files based on V1...

Most of my MP3s have both V1 and V2 tags (instead of exclusively having V2 tags), this shouldn't affect the filenaming right?

            ta,

Ah that is it - my program will check for and read a v1 tag because it is quicker than looking for a v2 tag - if it does not find a v1 then it looks for v2.

                i see...
i'm really not sure if its really worthwhile to remove all my V1 taggings... :(

well here's some wishes for the next release:
-pls accomodate for songs with both V1 and V2 tags so we can rename based on the latter
                - i haven't had chance to read the manual thoroughly, but can you -implement 'window' like shortcut key such as Alt+A to select all songs in the music collection

any workarounds for this problem in the meantime?

                Thanks

                    Doh.... :nospeak:

anyhow, how do we upload our own avatars? The 'more info' link in the user Control Panel says custom avatar is available after posting >0

the FAQ didn't say anything either.

You can't. vBulletin (the forum software) is currently running on an old version of php on this server. Due to its age, it is a security issue to allow users to upload their own avatars and since VB won't let *anyone* remote link to their avatar, the only option you have for an avatar is to choose from the gallery.

However, if you pop out an email to razgo@razgo.com with a link to or your avatar attached, Razgo should add it to the gallery for you with your name under it

                        Hi Spoon,
its been awhile, I wonder if you had add in the ability to rename files based on the MP3's V2 tags instead of the V1s??

Hi Rev, sorry for the delay I am knee deep in CD Writer code...

I will try to do it this weekend, if not give me another prompt here.

Ah right, head over to Beta section in the forum, there is a new mp3.dll you can install - it will load in a ID3v2 tag if there is one.
