    One more ?

When using the AUX Converter ("What U Hear" mode), the volume level of the
player has no impact - true or false?

AUX just uses the line-in so i dont think volume level of the player would have
an impact on the converted music, would it?

    thanks,
    clif

    Re: One more ?

Why not try and see (it should be visible in the test recording level window).
If you are trying to record while playing from the computer (in Windows Media Player or WinAmp, for example), I think you want to record off of "Stereo Mix" rather than Line Input.
    Best wishes,
    Bill Mikkelsen

The volume level of the player does not affect anything except what you hear yourself, but not what gets recorded. Make sure you don't allow sounds from other sources in, like new email notifications in Outlook Express, or they'll get recorded - at least if you're using Stereo Mix as an all purpose source of input.

Not totally sure on using Line-In as a source of input since I haven't done any transfer of audio from outside sources using dMC. It might look like Line-in should work, but then again Stereo Mix looks like it may take care of all the actual sources. I guess it's testing time for me :D Off to find a machine to hook up through Line-in :p

Badly stated question, sorry. Its not a physcally different device, its all within
        the PC.

I'm using the AUX-Converter through Winamp but had to turn the volume way down (as in minimal sound, maximum silence). And wasnt sure if there would be a problem with the volume of playback.

For recording, i dont have stereo-mix, just "What-U-Hear".

Still working on getting a 24 bit card. Looking at the creative audigy2 zx
Platinum (or Platinum pro). Only thing stopping me is (a) Spouse and (b) money.
        (b) is not so much a problem but (a) is a mountain to climb. :smile2:

Just a country figure of speech, nothing to get excited about Christina.
                :smile2: :smile2:

Maybe "Tree a coon", "Climb that hill", "Rope that critter" or "Hogtie" would have
                been would have been better.

                      Re: One more ?

                      Ha!
This "Goddess" has a beautiful set of Samuri Swords and she knows how to use
                      them like an expert! Really!

But i was exaggerating some before. She is probably the only woman who could
put up with me for this long, very easy going and hard to rile-up. She does
have her stubborn side tho (as i do). Makes life very interesting and i wouldn't
                      trade a minute of it.

BTW: The line-in thing worked beautifully. Creating a CD from some cassettes of
                      her Japanese music was faultless.

A great piece(s) of software Spoon has here.

                      thanks for the help,

Aha, I think this clinches it in the cat-skinning department. The promise (and execution) of flawless transfer to cd of cherished music from cassettes could more than compensate for the tendency to roll eyes at the hint of you buying yet another toy for yourself :D

                          Good going, Girl,!

I think i'll take advantage of that fact.........

Lets see, a new sound card, new graphics card, power supply, 7.1 speakers
and a 23/26 inch HD monitor and i'll be set (for a while).

The older the boys, the more expensive the toys!
                          Ah, well, nice to dream.

Just had a scare. Went to do something and when i came back, the PC didnt
start.. Finally traced it down to a bad plug in the power center but had me
                          going for a minute there.

                          thanks,
