    Just a thought......

I downloaded dbpower amp this afternoon but not had a chance to install/use it yet. I am about to convert wma ->mp3, so I was having a look through the posts on this board for any problems etc. There seems to be quite a few, all saying pretty much the same thing. Would it not be easier and less time consuming to burn the wma's to CD and then use the ripper to rip the CD to mp3 ?

The only real problems actually involve protected wma files. For those you might be able to burn them to audio cd and rip the cd tracks to unprotected files. Or not, since it seems that many people have been having problems with the burning step as well, but it's not clear whether it's due to a lack of understanding of the process of creating an audio cd or the fact that the degree of protection of the files is such that that's impossible to even burn an audio cd with them.

Lately there've been problems with Windowx XP, SP2 and/or Windows Media Player 10 as it interacts with wma 9, but mostly they were resolved when users uninstalled and reinstalled carefully all components for dMC.

Best thing is to try and see how it goes.
