the problem that I am having is that I can't convert a mp3 to a mp4. now I asked this question before and the responce was to download a codec. I tried that and I still get an error when trying to convert. so I would like someone to help me with this problem. the codec that I downloaded was the first mp4 codec and it was something with FAAC in it. when I downloaded it I didn't save it because it was an .exe file so I just opened it. then installed it to my computer.

Re: converting mp3 to mp4
It would be very helpful if you could provide the text of the error message.
The other thing that would be very helpful is the settings of the mp3 file you are trying to convert (bits, bitrate, frequency, channels, whether it is variable bitrate/constant bitrate/or average bitrate) and the settings for the mp4 file you are trying to create (bits, bitrate, frequency, channels).
Also, if you want to be able to have id tag information carried over to your mp4 file you will also need to download and install the AAC/MP4 decoder codec.
My stab in the dark guess would be to try to enable professional frequency conversion. This is set in dMC Configuration (Start>All Programs>dBpowerAMP Music Converter>Configuration>dMC Configuration). Check the box to enable this feature. Uncheck to disable it. My wild guess is that you need to have it checked.
Let me stress, this is a wild guess based on a set of assumptions that may be wrong. It won't hurt to try it out. Otherwise, please provide the details regarding the text of the error message and the settings of both your mp3 file and the mp4 file you are trying to create.
Best wishes,

Have you tried to simply do a Test conversion (no writing) in dMC? This would tell us if your mp3 file is OK.
Did you install the mp4 codec to the same folder as everything else from dbpoweramp?
What are the specifics of your original mp3 file that is giving your trouble? such as bitrate, frequency, channels, maybe which mp3 codec was used for encoding? You can get this informaiton from the popup info as you hover over the name of the mp3 file in question while in Widnows Explorer, as long as you configured dMC to show this. Also you can get this from the ID tag of the file, and perhaps from the file properties.
What are the specifics of the mp4 file you would like to create?
Do you have this error for all mp3 files that you want to convert to mp4? Have you tried to convert them to something else? Like to wav (16-bit, 44.1KHz, 2-channel stereo)?
Tells us your operating system and version of dMC that you have as well, so we know what else to look for.Comment
