    Quality Options?

In the dMC Advanced Lame Options - the Preset>Quality drop-down box list
many options. They range from "No Preset" to "Alt Preset ABR".

Since i'm not familar with a lot of those terms, is there a help page that gives
    definitions of those settings?

    thanks,
    savagcl

    Re: Quality Options?

After looking at some of the other converters (WMA, Musepack, etc) i see
some other quality settings are involved.

Is ther a page that explains those also (or just 1 page with all definitions)?

    thanks,
    savagcl

        Razgo,

Well, reading that gave me a headache. :smile2:

        But, thanks for the address.

          Re: Quality Options?

Here's a link for more information on the alt-presets that you might find useful:
In case someone didn't know, LAME MP3 encoder is the highest quality MP3 compressor available. Best results are achieved using it's VBR features....

Please note that the alt-presets involve the tweaking of some of the other codec variables (some of the more obscure things mentionned in the link furnished by Razgo) to enhance performance.

Also pay attention to your new car player's manual re: mp3 and settings it can accept or play. The alt-presets may be just the thing for your computer but might not be useful for your car player or a portable.

          Best wishes,

            Another headacge.
I normally just use the "CD" setting 192kbps @44.1 and they sound fine.
But does lead to the question - how does one control the bit setting (8 or 16)
or is that built into dBpowerAMP and need not concern a typical user?

            thanks,
            savagcl

For mp3 the bits are the same as source, ie CD 16 bits.
