rip speed slow..win98SE

I'm new to this...not sure how to speed up my ripping speed. It takes about 15 min. to rip an audio CD. I downloaded the power pack, but it doesn't seem to speed up the process. I'm getting frustrated.

Ripping to what? if you had a 500MHz computer and ripping to mp3 then that speed is about right.

Yes, I have a 533 MHz Pent. III, so I guess I'll just have to suffer with the slow ripping speed.

Would ripping straight to the Mp3 player be faster than ripping to the computer?

No, all time is taken compressing to mp3 (using lame which is a slower, but highest quality encoder).
