    Music Converter stopped working properly

I've read every thread in here, and still can't find an answer to my problem. I have used dMC for years, and never had any trouble, it's a great program. I had a total computer crash and had to reformat and reinstall Windows XP Pro a few days ago. After installing WMP9 again, and after many reboots, I tried installing dMC and the .wma codec, and yet all I can get for a dropdown option is .wav...it even says WAVE in the menu box...what the heck am I doing wrong? I have installed and uninstalled these things a dozen times, always shutting down and powering back up again, and it's still only .wav files...help!

All components of dMC have to be installed in the same folder.

For windows media you must install WMP 9 from the Windows site, and then you have to download and install the wma v9 codecs to the same folder as the rest of dMC.

Follow carefully steps 2 and 3 given at http://www.dbpoweramp.com/codec-central-wma.htm.

Also make sure that what you have installed is in fact WMP 9 and not WMP 10, as that appears to cause some problems.

Hi Christina...they are installed in the same folder, C:\Program Files\Illustrate\dBpowerAMP...and I did exactly as it said to do, installing both of those files ( 1.Windows Media Audio v9 System Codecs (3.8MB)
      2. WMA v9 Codec Release 1.3b (260KB), then shutting down the computer, then booting up again...I don't have WMP10, I'm using version 9.00.00.3093...I wish it were that easy! thanks very much for replying, I appreciate it...

Well, sorry then. There must be some other things at play here. I'm sure they'll surface in due course.

How about all the umpteen Windows XP patches and updates (up to but not including SP2) that you have to apply? Maybe they'll help.

Well, here's good news! I decided to try to rip a CD using the AudioCD Input folder, chose rip to WMA9, and that worked....then I closed that out, opened the right-click convert to context menu, and lo an behold! there was my WMA9 back in the dropdown menu!! I have no idea why this worked, but I"m so happy I could cry, I just love the right-click function... thanks so much, Christina...
