    adp file???

I need to convert adp files from my mp3 player (voice recordings). What are adp files and why is there no mention of them anywhere? I need to convert them to mp3 files.

Best bet is that ADP is the same as ADPCM as shown at http://filext.com/detaillist.php?extdetail=ADPCM and further explained at http://sox.sourceforge.net/AudioFormats-4.html and it's suppsoed to be for voice recordings, like from a dictaphone of sorts.

You may succeed in converting this type of file if first of all WMP can play it.

If so, try to rename the file with a .wav extension and try to convert it using dMC. remember the ADPCM file is most likely a 4-bit wav file, so that would be terribly lossy (compared with the usual 16-bit wav files). As it is, dMC does not convert TO 4-bit wav files, only to 8-bit wav files. Whether it can take 4-bit input remains to be seen.

If you cannot convert the file but you can play it through WMP or another player, then refer to http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?t=5362 for ways to record it to different audio formats.

If you can play the file in winamp, can't he just use the "Direct Wave Output" and make a wave file? I was just wondering why this option was never mentioned. Yes it's another step, but it eliminates the chance of a system sound being on the recording.
