    dmc crashes on large files

    hallo!

i have joined several mp3 files to one large file and want to convert it into aac / mp4 format. the conversion runs properly for several minutes but then a codec error appears. it doesn't happen at the same point of a file, so I guess it doesn't have to do with a corrupt input file. any ideas? thanks in advance!

    Regards,
    Markus

Re: dmc crashes on large files

I imagine you are correct in thinking your input file may be corrupt in some way. But to fully rule out that it may be a system resource problem you might try first converting your input to wav and then to aac/mp4 and you might try setting your conversion priority to Below Normal. (You can change conversion priority when the screen appears that shows the progress of your conversion). Both of these measures are designed to reduce the strain on system resources that a large file conversion mught present.

You might see if you can play your composite file in whatever audio player you use. If the file is corrupt, you should find that the file will fail to play all the way through (or maybe not at all). If it does play all the way through but the steps in the first paragraph don't work you could try recording the file off of your soundcard using dB Auxilary Input.

It would also help to know what codec error message you are getting. If you can play the file all the way through on an audio player, you should be able to convert it. The codec error may give you a clue as to where the problem lies. So if the ideas in the first paragraph don't work and if the idea in the second paragraph does not appeal to you (or if it is unavailable because you can't play the file) then you might try sending the full text of the error message and you might try sending us information about the composite track you are trying to convert (file size, bitrate, frequency, channels, how you created the file and whether you can play the file all the way through).

    Hope this helps.
    Good luck and best wishes,

Depends how you joined them, if they are not joined correctly (ie tag info in the middle of the file) then it could easily be corrupt.
