SPOON - QUESTION ABOUT TRIAL PERIOD FOR MP3 ENCODING IN dbpowerAMP

HOW LONG DOES THE TRIAL PERIOD FOR MP3 ENCODING LAST FOR "dBpowerAMP Music Converter Release 11 Beta 5a"?

I JUST DOWNLOADED, INSTALLED & RIPPED/ENCODED A CD TO LAME MP3 USING "dMC Audio CD Input" WITH NO PROBLEMS. I DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING THAT INDICATED THAT I WAS RUNNING A TRIAL VERSION OF THE SOFTWARE. COULD YOU PLEASE LET ME KNOW HOW THE PROGRAM IS SUPPOSED TO BEHAVE WHILE IN THE "TRIAL PERIOD"?

    THANKS,
    RACER-X

you didn't download any trial software. it's all free.

it is only the powerpack that is 30day trial: http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc-power-pack.htm

      Razgo,

O.K. BUT WOULD'NT THE BELOW QUOTES FROM SPOON'S BETA PAGE SUGGEST THAT THE MP3 COMRESSION IS DEPENDANT ON THE "TIME LIMITED" FUNCTIONALITY OF THE POWER PACK?

"This update has a new Mp3 decoder and advanced tagging options (see dMC Confuguration >> 'Tagging Options'), built-in Aux Input and File Selector (both updated), built in Power Pack, which is needed for the time limited mp3 compression (being updated with new DSP effects). Lame 3.96.1, smart install compression codecs (certain are displayed to be selected for compression - wma, ogg, monkeys). All in all a big update. Currently the help is still R10.1"

"Bad News: Mp3 encoder is now on a License & trial with Power Pack"

IF I'M INCORRECT, SOMEONE LET ME KNOW.

      THANKS,
      Racer-X

yes your right. i forgot about mp3 has to be removed for legal reasons.

so i am not sure myself what the stance is on this now. Spoon will clear it up though.

dMC R10 has no restrictions, dMC R11 does - the mp3 encoder is linked with the Power Pack trial.

ah ok, in other words hang on to your dmc 10 if you want to be able to still convert mp3 or simply register the powerpack and have the latest updates.

Or download the free LAME codec package from numerous sources and apply your ingenuity to installing it into dbpoweramp.

However I'd go with buying the power pack license .. if you use software you really ought support it somehow. I just wish the FhG / Thomson folks were not getting their pound of flesh for doing damn little (and a lot of that publicly funded, IIRC).
