    Cd Quality To 5.1

Is there anyway to convert CD Quality audio found on a regular audio CD, to 5.1 audio?

I know Spoon has said that you can't do this with dMC. The trick is to find a program that will create the content for the extra channels. I would suppose that such a program might exist somewhere but I don't know where to find it. Perhaps another user might know of such a program.

If you find such a program, I am sure other users would like to know about it.

Isn't that the option of wav, 24-bit, 48KHz and 6 '5.1' ? Then you can convert a cd quality wav to that. Of course, it's probably more like converting a mono file to a stereo - 2 channels of the same thing. It does convert. How good it is is anybody's guess.

Christina is quite right. You can convert cd to 24 bit, 48 khz, 5.1 wav.
I was thrown off by a previous problem of trying to rip a cd to WMA Pro 24 bit, 48 khz, 5.1 which results in an error message.

I believe I was also mistaken :o in my previous statement:
I know Spoon has said that you can't do this with dMC.
since it obviously can be done and since I can only locate a thread where Spoon indicated you cannot burn a 5.1 channel track to cd (which is not the issue here).

In any case, thank you Christina!. :D

          LOL! You're welcome!

Actually you can convert the 24-bit 48KHz 5.1 wav right back to 16-bit 44.1KHz 2-channel stereo using dMC (I'm using release 11 beta). :D

You can convert the 24-bit 48KHz 5.1 wav to just about anything for which you have the encoding codec - but it's slow.
