bit rate/ file size does not change

    bit rate/ file size does not change

    I am running release 10.1 on the latest XP. I am trying to convert some .mp3 files to a lower bit rate. Everything appears to work properly, when I leave "preserve tags" unchecked, the tags disappear. However the files size and bit rate does not change.

    Pls Advise.

      What settings are you using for the conversion?

          Preset "FM". However I tried many others and same problem.

              Don't use any Preset option. Select the quality with the green cursor bar and in Advanced Options use Constant Bit Rate and Normal.
