.shn to wav

I recently downloaded an shn file and am trying to convert it to mp3, mp4 or even wav but I cant get it to work. An error comes up saying 3

"The CODEC required to decompress 'C:\Documents and Settings\so and so\Track 04.shn' could not be opened."

I cannot figure out what to do. I have downloaded all of the codecs that I thought were necessary. Any suggestions?

Is it a real shorten file? try creating a shorten file (with dbpoweramp) then convert from it.
