CD ripping

Hello everyone,

i have a badly scratched CD.
it plays with ALOT of skips and such. :blush:
when i try to rip it, i get less then a minuet for each track :(
and AMP CD input just tries to do the net track.

any tricks/tips for rescuing this dead mofo.

Use dMC Auxiliary Input to capture each track to wav. Don't use the auto detect of silence to define start and stop. Try to find a wav editor program that can declick it and remove some hiss. Nero's has one as part of the Burning Rom package. There are others out there too. Convert the wav file to whatever you want after that.

Hi, you could also try using Exact Audio Copy, available free on www.exactaudiocopy.de , (or dBpoweramp's Accurate Rip if you have it installed and fully configured). If you don't have Accurate Rip, go for EAC since you will have almost immediate access to the program after downloading. EAC will make multiple passes through the data in order to get an acceptable copy. Good luck!

Remember though, some CDs are beyond help - having your CD drive try to read a disc for 9 hours (you might break your CD drive) perhaps is not worth it (get a new CD).

EAC works good but it's been sitting on track one for 7 hours
so i'll do it thru aux input thanx

P.S. has anyone used those CD fix gizmos? does anyone know wa i'm babling about?

If I remember correctly, Easy CD Extractor also copies badly scratched discs.

EAC is the best for damaged CDs. For Easy CD Extractor - see what the developer gets upto here:

Pokisoft is the company that puts out Easy CD Extractor. My guess is that poikosoft is also responsible for Power Encoder and that in both cases it appears they may have engaged in unprofessional behaviors to further their products.
