Re: Problems when I try decode WMA files

WMA (and some other file formats) contain anti-copying protections (also known as encryption). If a WMA file is encrypted you cannot expect to copy it through normal means. WMA gives users the option to encrypt any WMA files you might create and often (but not with dMC) the default option is "on". This is not a problem as long as you only listen to your WMA file from the computer you ripped it to. But if you got, say a portable mp3 player, you will find that you are unable to convert your encrypted WMA files to any other format. Some on-line music vendors who let you download music files also use various forms of encryption so this is something to watch out for.

So if you are creating encrypted WMA files without meaning or wanting to do so-stop it. With the encrypted files you already have your options are to re-rip or re-convert them (assuming you had the original cd's, source files or other audio source such as audiotape or lp) or you can try playing each track through Windows Media Player and recording them off of your sound card using dMC Auxilary Input.

And if you are paying to download encrypted files be aware of what you are paying for so that you can make informed decisions.
