    Powerpack Volume Problems

    Hi
i just made some of my mp4s louder by increasing volume 155%...
maybe a little too loud (is 100% 2 times louder or just the same as it was before?) cause now all the mp4s rustle...and i dont know how to turn it back to normal...i tried to reduce the sound and its not as loud as before but its still ruined...

    plzzz help me

    Re: Powerpack Volume Problems

Did you do this by increasing your Volume Normalize settings while ripping?
If you have the Power Pack installed you can try using the Volume Quieten feature from your Power Pack DSP's. You will have to toy around to find the appropriate settings. Your other alternative is to reconvert those mp4 files with your Volume Normalize settings restored to default. Either way you will have to reconvert your files. You are probably better off with the second alternative IF you have the original cd's or source files. If you don't, you will need to try converting your messy files using Volume Quieten.
If you try using Volume Queten try first converting just one of your problem files because you may need to use a little trial and error to get the results you want. Then you can go ahead and start batch converting for the rest of your affected files.

by the way whats the difference between aac and mp4?
The following summary from Spoon in your codec help file is a good intro:
mp4 is basically a container it can store many sub-formats, of which the main would be Advanced Audio Compression (AAC). Adding ID tags to mp4 has standardized on the Apple iTunes format. Files ending in .m4a are audio content only, .mp4 can contain both audio and video, .m4v are video files. Apple supplies protected mp4 files in a .m4p format from its online audio store. Files ending in .aac are raw audio files. Within AAC are different encoding types, LC (low complexity), HE (high efficiency) to name a few. To encode your audio to be compatible with most audio players, use the LC compression type (if given the option). High Efficiency (HE) uses SBR technology (not too different as mp3PRO) if the player knows about HE (currently not many portable players know) the extra frequency information can be decoded, otherwise half the audio quality will be missing on playback
For more information and slightly better summaries (plus a lot more technical stuff than you will likely ever need) you can check out the following links:

As you can see, the first link talks about mp4 and the second discusses AAC.
