can't rip audio cd, [xp] codec could not be opened

The CODEC required to compress 'C:\Converted Music\Barbie's Cradle - All I Need.mp3.TEMP.mp3' could not be opened.

hi, just installed the latest DMC, but im wondering it says this error. And i did, re-configure the "dMC Audio CD Configuration" to use "CD Communication = 2000 / NT Built-In (Limited)" am not using the administrator on my workstation btw.

Do i have to re-start my pc after re-configuring?

I have tested, re-converting some mp3's on my hard-drive already, it works. But ripping from the CD, it says that error (top).

    :(

Re: can't rip audio cd, [xp] codec could not be opened

This error message seems to occur sometimes when people are trying to perform compressions that the program cannot manage, or cannot manage well. In these cases, trying different compression settings may help. I suspect that this may not be a factor in your case since you have reconverted some files from your hard drive (presumably at similar settings) successfully. This would also seem to rule any problem with your codec or with file associations. Not using the administrator might be a factor (I am not sure either way).
Is this file on your hard drive already or are you trying to copy/convert it from either a regular cd or an mp3 cd? If the latter, what are the tag values for this file in terms of bitrate, frequency, level and encoder?
    Best wishes,

Also, can you convert this track to wav and convert from wav to mp3?
