    No CD-ROM drives detected

    I have an NEC 28B 28X CD-ROM drive and a SONY CRX175A1 24x10x40 CD-RW drive.

I have just installed dBpowerAMP Music Converter DMC-R9.

When I try to rip songs from a CD to my hard drive using dMC - Audio CD Input Options, it does not detect either of my CD-ROM drives.

Under the section: "Use CD Drive" is blank. No CD-ROM drives are listed.

To the right of "Use CD Drive", on the "Advanced" button: dMC Advanced Ripping Configuration", the settings are:
    CD Communication is "ASPI"
    Command Set is "MMC"

I have changed both settings, but no effect.

Both the NEC CD-ROM drive & the SONY CD-RW work correctly otherwise.

    Do you have any suggestions?
    Thanks for your assistance.

    Re: No CD-ROM drives detected

What system are you using? If you have Windows 95 or 98 there are some additional files you need to install for dMC to work. If you have a later Windows XP you may want to try setting CD Communication to 2000/NT Built-In (limited).

If these tips do not apply, please post back.

Btw, the latest version of dMC (dBpowerAMP Music Converter) is release 10.1 and the current active beta version is r 11 beta 2. You may want to try downloading and installing either of these.

    Best wishes,

With Windows ME you should not have to download any additional system files. To download and install the latest version of dMC, visit the download page for dMC. If you want to try out the beta, visit the Beta forum and you wil find the link there. I assume you already have the Audio CD Input module dowloaded and installed and you should also download and install he File Selector module and Auxilary Input modules (which you may also already have). These are also available through the dMC Download Section.

          Xoas,
          I downloaded & installed DMC version R10.1.
Same results, NO CD drives detected.
          Darn, what gives?
I have never had this problem with DMC on any PC before.
          Many thanks.

Why not try re-installing audio cd converter?
Is this a networked computer or does your ME system assign administrative priviledges?
Can you access your cd drive using dMC by opening dMC, and browsing till you access either CD drive or will dMC not recognize either drive that way either?
Let us know what you find out.
            Best wishes,

              In Support >> Audio CD

there is a special Window ME .vdx device driver you can install.
