    questions

I am new to this forum and program which has been recommended. I have started using it to rip and encode my cd collection so i can put it on an mp3 player. First when i place a cd in my cd burner drive(tdk). it doesent pull up any of the files. only if i place the cd in my regular cd drive will it recognize the cd. This takes longer for me to rip files since my tdk burner will do it at 48x. second what is a normal encoding time. I have the files being converted to lame mp3 and it averages 3.0 is this normal or can it go faster.

    Re: questions

My first question was going to be whether you have downloaded and installed the dMC (short for dBpowerAMP Music Converter) Audio CD Input but my very strong suspicion is that you have. To access your burner drive, place your cd in the drive, open dMC Audio CD Input. The screen will instruct you to insert an audio cd (assuming there is no cd in your other drive). Click on the button that says Options on the top menu bar. A screen will appear entitled dMC Audio CD Input Options. Find the entry where it says "CD Drive". Click on Where it says CD Drive and in the next box to your right you should be able to select your burner drive. Click on OK and you should be good to go.

i will give that a shot. what about the encoding speed itself. is that a product of the software or computer speed. or both

        Re: questions

Encoding speed can be partly a result of the program, partly a result of the drive, partly a result of the computer, and partly a result of other factors (whether you have other programs running in the ackground during the conversion, whether you are applying effects to your encoded files, the types of files being encoded, and so forth).
If you review your Help files for dMC you should find more information about the ripping.
