    Not creating correct file names

Using Pystel mp4 or AAC the only files created are c:\~dmcin.wav and c:\~dmcout.aac which are not related to the name of the original file or the name entered as the renamed file. These are passed as params to the encoder.bat by DbPowerAMP.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

    Thanks

Do you have the mp4/AAC decoder installed?
The instructions at Codec Central seem to indicate that you need this decoder as well as the enoder to preserve id tags. If this is not your problem, please let us know.

Re: Not creating correct file names

Yes, I've installed both encoder and decoders, including Pystel mp4 and aac codecs with the AACEnc option installed.

I've tried to figure out what is going on by setting the encoder executable to a bat file which echo's the calling command line to a file. This shows that dbpoweramp is passing c:\~dmcin.wav as input file and c:\~dmcout.mp4(aac) as output file. So the problem seems to be in dbpoweramp not the codec software.

      Thanks

I am not the most tech-savvy guy. Could you tell me what version of dMC you are using, what type of conversions you are attempting and at what settings, and whether you are getting id tags and whether they are ok.
        Thanks,

Re: Not creating correct file names

I have just tried downloading and installing the AAC/mp4 decoder, the psytel AAC and mp4 encoders, the AAC enc codec and the AAC to mp4 and mp4 to AAC codecs. I do not have a problem with the file names.
          Two ideas spring to mind.
          1. Did you install the AAC and mp4 encoders before you installed the AAC enc file (the enc file has to be installed over the encoder files)? If not, try uninstalling the encoders and AAC enc, delete them from your registry and reinstall.
          2. Did you install the AAC to mp4/mp4 to AAC codec. If not, try downloading and installing that codec as well.

If these considerations do not apply, please let us know.

faac is possibly the better encoder.
