Decompression error -- 1st track ONLY

I have a few CDs (so far) for which I receive an error for the 1st track but none others when ripping:

    CODEC decompression error for '\\CdRom\Track01.cda'
Error whilst running DSP effect, lack of disk space? Temp file 'C:\DOCUME~1\David\LOCALS~1\Temp\DMCA6.tmp'
Unable to Rip track - make sure correct Ripping method is selected and CD Drive supports digital audio extraction.

The others work out fine. This occurs whether I do all tracks as a batch or each one individually. I noticed lots of forum items on the decompression error in general, and one from someone for whom things worked on all but the first track, but no solution.

When trying to rip from a CD to MP3 I get this error: "CODEC decompression error for '\\CdRom\Track01.cda' Not found CODEC for track01.cda". When uninstall any software ask me if i want to delete some files not used and some of the files are required for powerAMP converter. In other time I could do it,

It's only with some CDs, but I don't think it's simply something wrong with them. I'ts always track 1, and I am able to rip those tracks fine with Windows Media Player 9. Any ideas?

Specs: WinXPPro, plenty of HD space, Program Release 10 (downloaded and installed it today).

    Thanks,
    David

can you try the latest dmc beta r112 from here and see if that helps.

Switching off volume normalize should help.

I installed the v.11 beta (which also involves uninstalling v.10), but no difference. In either version, turning off Normalization removed one part of the error message, i.e.

Error whilst running DSP effect, lack of disk space? Temp file 'C:\DOCUME~1\David\LOCALS~1\Temp\DMC1FC.tmp'

but otherwise was the same. In full, without Normalization it is

        CODEC decompression error for '\\CdRom\Track01.cda'
Unable to Rip track - make sure correct Ripping method is selected and CD Drive supports digital audio extraction.

        and with Normalization it is

        CODEC decompression error for '\\CdRom\Track01.cda'
Error whilst running DSP effect, lack of disk space? Temp file 'C:\DOCUME~1\David\LOCALS~1\Temp\DMC1FC.tmp'
Unable to Rip track - make sure correct Ripping method is selected and CD Drive supports digital audio extraction.

As I mentioned before, Windows Media Player 9 processes it without a problem. I also tried CDex and it worked fine as well, including a Normalization process.

            Yes.

Yes. CD Communication = 2000 / NT Device IO. Command Set = MMC. I did not change either of these settings at any time.

            Thanks,

the only other thing i can think of is if the cd is a bit scratchy and dmc is too sensitive to it.

i can't recreate the problem myself yet though.

                Hi,

I have exactly the same problem tho it was the two last PROTECTED trax (the so called "data-tracks" in EAC) that I tried to rip and it did not work (i.e. same error message).

EAC was also unable (I mean, it hanged up) to extract those 2 trax.

Config: Win98, enough disk space, latest version of the program.

Data tracks are not audio, they are data and cannot be read from.
