    AAC codec crash

    Hello,

I am working with dBpowerAMP and the AAC codec I downloaded from your site. While converting MP3 to AAC (56 or 80 k/bit ) I get an error (fastenc-application error, the instruction at "0x00409c78" referenced memory at "0x01557068". The menmory could not be read."

Now I'm a newbie here, used to convert with cdex. I like the interface of dBpowerAMP very much, but is there a way to eliminate this problem. I always occurs with the same files, and when it occurs the encoding process is stopped, leaving an incomplete file.

Try reinstalling the other non fast version of AAC encoder:

      Re: AAC codec crash

Oops, haven't been here for some time. Ik have just downloaded the codec and installed it, just to find out that that's the encoder I'm having trouble with. And reïnstalling the codec doesn't solve the problem.

In the meantime I've tried converting with Audition 1.5. The files produced have a much lower sound quality. :vmad:

Is there a guide for using this codec? I'm trying to convert .Mp3 to .AAC to get smaller files. How do I set for VBR...???

I forgot to mention, that converting the Mp3-file to a wav-file still gives the same problem. It only occurs with about 15 to 20 % of all files, and always with the same files.

Try the dMC R11 beta in the beta section of this forum.

Thanks for you r reply. I got the Nero codec working (although it produces MP4 files also) ans this one doesn't crash. I will try the codec U suggested after I formatted my PC. I'll let you know how the story ends.....
