    ???dMC-r10 converting ADCPM files

    Hello, I have a curious problem when I am converting Audio files (ie ripping an audio CD) and converting the files to Microsoft ADPCM 44Khz 4 bit MONO

    dMC appears to create a file of an appropriate length (ie. approx 1/4 of original file length) but when I play the file (using WMP) the player stops exactly 17sec into the track - no matter what track I encode.

    I then encoded the audio file (form the CD) to an MP3 and the MP3 fine (as on would expect ;-)

    The next bit is really weird...

    I then converted the MP3 file to an ADPCM file and when I played the ADPCM file it wored fine!(ie. did not stop at 17sec)!!!!

    So cda-> ADPMCM NO GO
    but CDA -> MP3 -> ADPCM GO!

    When I look at the properties of the ADPCM file created form the MP3 and the ADPCM file created directly form the audio CD they have the same properties.

    Finally, as an experiment, I used CDDex to rip the audio file and encoded it as ADPCM and it worked! (ier played right though)

    I prefer to use dmC as we are automatic the conversion procesd using the cool dMC object.

    Any ideas what I might try or where to look?

    Thanks
    iv

    The file that does not work (adpcm wave), try converting it to uncompressed Wave in dMC, does it convert ok, does it play ok?

      Wow that's interesting...
      Taking the ADPCM encoded file (that stops at the 17sec mark) and encoding is as a PCM wave creates an PCM wav file ok.
      BUT the PCM wave file is only 17sec long!!

        If you have the Power Pack installed, make sure no DSP effects are running.

          Don't have powerpack installed at all. Just using the Free Version.

            Try dMC R11 (from Beta section) there was a bug in ACM wave codecs.
