Wave output format program will not keep my settings

When I right click on a MP3 to convert to wave and try to change the format in the Wave Output Format box it will go onto the one i want (MPEG -Layer3). IF I come out after setting my attributes and go back in then the format options box is still showing MP3. Or what ever was on there at the start. It will never stay on the one I choose in MPEG -layer 3. I have uninstalled and reinstalled a number of times but it keeps the same Wave Output Format box which seems to be corrupt. If I save the settings in the save option it will not go back to them when I hit the Name I saved it under. The Format box still shows MP3. I need to be able to un install the wave output box so it will reinstall on a new install. Can you please help me with this problem
    PS
    I'm Running XP
After a uninstall and a reinstall my old settings are still in the save options of the Wave Output Format box. The box does not get deleted on an uninstall and it looks like this is what is causing the problem.

Love this program and only had the problem since I had to re-format my HD which is running fine.

MPEG - Layer 3 is not the same as wave, it is MP3! Or maybe I didn't understand your problem.

Re: Wave output format program will not keep my settings

Thanks Spoon but I am the administrator for the pc. Maybe not a very good one lol. I need a way to delete the Wave Output Format box. It keeps my old settings even if i delete dBpowerAmp and reinstall it. The settings I set do not work and will not hold on my choice. They do not work even if i delete and reset them in the box. It always comes up MP3 in the format box. Another anomaly is that if I click on MPEG layer 3 and pick my attributes and go straight to convert. It converts them but when I hold My cursor over the file it reads Format MP3 but the frequency is right but the bit rate states 0. I think its all linked to this Wave Output Format box. Any idea's?
Thanks for all your help. :smile2: Trev

When you mention mp3 you are talking just about mp3 inside wave files? (not mp3 (Lame))?

Re: Wave output format program will not keep my settings

Spoons, Yes just MP3. Like I say if I go into change Format and change everything to MPEG layer 3 (the one I want) and save my settings and come out. If I click straight away to go back in there, the format reads MP3......I've only just noticed that If I hold my curser over one of my MP3 files when the information box pops up it reads everything ok but for the level. It states MPEG 1 layer 3. the program is reading all my music files wrong. In my wav files it reads Format: MP3. Somewhere I must have corrupt settings. Un-installing and re-installing does not sort the problem out as my old settings are still there. I need to be able to uninstall what ever is keeping the corrupt information. In the registry or what ever. Your help with this problem is appreciated as it is sending me mad lol. I have used this program for about 2 years now and love it. Just need to sort this problem out.

Re: Wave output format program will not keep my settings

Sorry spoons I may not have made that clear about MP3. Yes It reads MP3 under Format in a wave file. All my old wave files read Format: MP3. All my MP3 files Read under Level: MPEG 1 layer 3

                Try this:

Select something like MSADPCM, change the settings to something different, then encode a file, then come back into the settings, have they changed?

Re: Wave output format program will not keep my settings

no it keeps the other settings.
It looks like it is only the MPEG Layer 3 ones that will not hold. I have tried all the other ones and they seem to hold. The MPEG Layer 3 one always shows MP3 in the format box but it gives the wave extentions on my files with the right attributes for my choice. I have tried downloading another version straight from your site but that does not change anything. This does not make sense. What I did notice after deleting it and reloading an older version I had. After doing my settings coming out of selection. The Format Box Inormation held the attribute readings and in the attribute information it said MP3. the wrong way round??? and MP3 instead Of Layer 3. I think If I could delete What ever is being left on my system after uninstalling it, and doing a clean install again that may work. If I un-install the program at the moment and reboot and re-install the the old names I have tried to save my settings under are still there. So Part of the program is keeping my settings somewhere on my PC, which have become corrupt........... Does that make sense????????? Well anyway spoons I must ty for your help on this even if You are unable to solve this mystery.

You could try installing the LAME ACM Wave mp3 codec, do a google search for it.
