    Converting and normalizing

I have converted a small music collection to .MP3 format at 192 kbps constant bitrate without choosing the "normalize" option. I have now noticed that some tracks are noticeably louder than others and now need to convert from 192 kbps to 192 kbps but with the "normalize" option on. Will converting from/to the same bitrate again cause any noticeable loss of quality? If so, is there a better way of sorting the track volumes out?

    Re: Converting and normalizing

I may be totally wrong here, but I think that the normalize function normalizes within a file when you are converting it, not across files.

I always use normalize when converting, by default, and it doesn't appear to ensure uniform volume across different files.

When I burn an audio cd using Nero, I can normalize all the files together and that seems to work better.

Well, I hope all goes well for you, Mp3gain is so simple and easy to use and it makes things sound better. Dbpoweramp Player is the best player in the world, but I think that Mp3gain compliments it nicely. Good luck!

Does it only handle mp3 files? If so it's a pity.

Negatory, it only seems to work on Mp3's only, kind of a shame, I was thinking about switching my whole cellection over to wma's.
