one bothers with fixed, simple looks for the maximum value of the whole audio file and scales the audio up. Adaptive uses little blocks and adjusts the volume as it goes along.

Hi Thanx for the response, but I do not understand. Maybe I am looking for somrthing in the wrong area. I use a Nomad Zen in my car wired to a couple of amps, All my MP3s prior to discovering dbPowerAmp were done on Musicmatch with a thing called "volume leveling" when I turn that function on on the Zen ,all music is at a consistant volume. The new MP3s ripped on dbPowerAmp sound great but are much louder than all others. When I ripped them on dbAmp I used DSP " volume normalizing" simple. What am I doing wrong?

Nothing wrong, the volume normalize in the other programs mustn't be 'as good', after all you want the track as loud as possible.
