    Calculating dynamic range

    Hi!
I need to know how is possible to calculate the dynamic range of an audio file (such as PCM, MP3, MP4, WMA ....) knowing only its bit depth and its waveform frequency.

I noted that in PCM audio there was this connection:16bit-96db
    24bit-144db
    In ratio 1 a 6.

I would to suppose consequently these cases: 8bit-48db
    32bit-192db
A pure coincidence? What does the frequency matter? And what about the other types of audio files?

    Thanks

    Re: Calculating dynamic range

Frequency does not make any difference to the range, not sure about the range of compression codecs, if encoded from 16 bit and decoded to 16 bit, then it will be the sam e as 16bit.
