Converting from CD to .wav and from downloaded mp3 to .wav

I know that the quality of a conversion cannot sound any better than its original source; however, when I rip a track from a CD and convert it to a .wav, it sounds like an old transistor radio. There is no option for correcting the bass, mid-range or treble settings. Is there any way to correct the "tin-y" sound on my conversions? I did the conversion with the newest version of dBpoweramp 10.1. Also, my sister has a little older version of your program and she is able to make a 32-bit selection. I've tried 16bit and Bits as Source and neither sounds good after the conversion.

If you set everything to [as source] bits freq, that will be the best sound possible from an audio cd. If that sounds rubbish, look to the sound card / speaker setup.
