Well, when I use the ALAC encoder (the only one available for the AAC container?) nothing happens at all.
It looks as a coversion is made, but the mp3 file remains and there is no new m4a version

Are you sure no file has been created during the conversion? Perhaps it is being saved to a different folder location? I saw a similar post a while back that you were having the same challenge with another format.

What does your save string look like when you assign the conversion?
