How to work with mp4?

Years ago, I had used dbpoweramp. Recently, the Nero I bought a few years ago, will no longer encode because, it says, I have no license, even though I do.

So, I thought I’d relieve all my converting problems behind by buying dbpoweramp. After that, I still have to use online converters if the conversion has anything to do with mp4.

In addition to the program, I have downloaded and installed two files from dbpoweramp-

m4a, mp4 Codec 688 KB https://www.dbpoweramp.com/codecs/dB...-codec-mp4.exe

and

AAC to mp4 & mp4 to AAC 347 KB https://www.dbpoweramp.com/codecs/dB...c-aactomp4.exe

But still, no right click menu, just nothing, except an error message.

If I open dbpoweramp, choose Music Converter and enter a filename directly, and then try to convert to wav, the following is shown:

Error ACM command settings not specified. [clEncoder_WAVE::ACMSplitSettings]

If I choose to convert to mp3, it seems to work fine, but still mp4 doesn’t work with the right click menu.

To summarize, how to get mp4 on the right click menu, and how to make dbpoweramp convert mp4 to wave or mp3?

I’m on the latest update Windows 10, plenty of hard drive space and RAM.

Any help will be appreciated.

mp4 is a video format, m4a is the audio equivalent.

The wave error, it sounds like you have a really old version of dBpoweramp?

Thanks for replying.

It looks like I have a newer version. My version of dbpoweramp is release 2023-06-26 [64-bit] and further to the right it says "No update required." Is there an additional file I need to fix the wav error?

I understand that mp4 is video, but like said, I installed two codec packages from dbpoweramp, so I was expecting, for example, to convert a music video that has just one picture the whole way through to wav.

I assume that this means that I will never be able to convert a mp4 to wav.

It looks like the only way I can do a conversion that I want to do is to use an online converter, if there is no way I can get it through dbpoweramp.

If there is anything else to you can tell, it will be appreciated.

Try converting a mp4 file to mp3, by firing up the converter then selecting the files, does that work (as a test).

For wave, ensure that 'uncompressed is selected', if that does not work try restarting your computer in safe mode:

I tested with mp3 and it worked.
Tested again with wav, but choose "Uncompressed." And it worked!

Thanks so much. I do have one other small gripe: how to get mp4 on the right click "Convert to" menu? Is that something I can fix?

Either way, I'm happy that dbpoweramp converts to wav. Thanks again.
