Hello,
I'm trying to create a wav file at 24bit 44100Hz from either a CD or from an mp3. I understand that this isn't going to be any better quality than the 16bit option, but I still want to do it. The problem is no matter how I do this, it won't play. Normally I would use windows media player, it's what I'm familiar with, but if I open the wav with it, it attempts to download some codec that can't be found and isn't named. I tried using the dbpowerAMP player to play the wav file, but it doesn't do anything at all. If I check the properties of the wav file, it says it is an unknown format. So is there another codec that I need to install, or is this conversion/creation simply not possible yet?
According to my husband, the dbpowerAmp player was playing 24bit wavs just fine yesterday, but today, for whatever reason, it isn't. Thinking that all we needed to do was reinstall the player, we did that, and now it won't even open without performing an illegal operation. So I've reinstalled it several times, trying different routes, still nothing works, it can't seem to get past the illegal operation. Is there any way to fix that? We've only been using it for a couple of weeks, and were really starting to like it better than windows media player, it doesn't skip or freeze like media player, and has a very nice playlist option, so we'd really like to get it back up and running like it was before.
By the way, incase it's helpful, we have the newest versions of both the player and converter, and we're running windows 98.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated,
