unable to convert 32-bit wave to mp3

Hi you all,
When trying to convert 32-bit resolution (or even 20 or 24-bit) PCM-wave files to mp3 (lame), I systematically get the message that the codec is not available.
I edit my mp3 and PCM wave files in Adobe Audition, which has a standard 20 to 32-bit resolution for PCM; when having saved any PCMwave, none of them seem to be convertible to mp3 (Lame) through DBpowerAmp, although DBA recognises the files as Windows PCM.
Only when I convert the sample-rate resolution to 16-bit, there's no problem.
Is there any mp3-codec avalaible that deals with 32-bit resolution wave files?

Why do you use these high Bit Level? 16 Bit or 32 Bit makes at least really NO difference.
What ver of audition do you use? Mine is limited to 16bit.

Simply try a 16 Bit format ... I guess it'll work. Have you tried Adobes Batch conversion????

I am finding many Divx encoded TV programs downloaded from usenet have had their audio encoded as 32 bit MP3 - these wont play on my standalone Divx player & when I try to down-convert to 16 bit a couple or so minutes of audio goes missing from the end - in other words down-converting also truncates the audio stream. I am really interested in finding a simple method of converting from 32 bit MP3 to 16 bit MP3. Its really frustrating because you cant tell until you have downloaded the file & wasted the bandwidth.
Alternatively - are newer DVD players with Divx decoding capable of handling the 32 bit Mp3s?

No such thing as a 32 bit mp3, mp3 audiois stored as floating point independant of bit depth.

Well when I use Audacity to analyze the audio file it tells me its 32 bit, thats why I am quoting the files as 32 bit. Anything analyzed as 16 bit plays fine on my standalone but anything analyzed as 32 bit wont play.
WMP occasionally reports errors with codec tag 0055.
This seems to happening more & more with downloaded movie files. If anyone knows if the current generation of Divx capable DVD players can handle these kind of files (32 bit) I will happily buy a new one.
I take it there is an error in Audacity that is misreporting these files as 32 bit?

audacity opens everything as 32bit float

export to 16bit and save yourself some trouble

The problem that me & others are wrestling with is that all of a sudden there seems to be an MP3 encoder that is somehow producing illegal files.
My Standalone doesn't like VBR MP3 audio - the standard practice in this instance has been to use VirtualDub to export the audio to a Wav file & then re-import & remux as a CBR MP3. All of a sudden there are many Movies & TV shows that are somehow corrupted - we keep getting error messages saying that VD can't decode the audio - yet on analysis the audio shows as Lame VBR. It seems that in the past few months or so some new encoder or ripper has started being used that is producing very difficult to edit/alter/re-encode MP3 audio tracks. Many of us have tried using dbpowerAMP as the premier audio recoder but are not having much luck. I have spent many many hours trying to figure this one out but it has me beat.

dMC R12 should be able to read those mp3 files (it is currently in alpha so not very usable).
