Total Newb at this. I have a few DSD files I'd like to convert to FLAC. I have dBpoweramp 17.4 Ref. Can I use this to convert the files? Do I need something else? How do I do it?

Re: DSD to FLAC
You should be able to right click on the DSD files >> Convert To -
Re: DSD to FLAC
Check the files have a .dsd extension, you should also be able to select dsd files by opening Music Converter.Comment

Re: DSD to FLAC
When I open Music Converter on the control center I go to the files I mentioned above. They are totally unrelated to Music Conversion and there is no DSD there. Also as I posted in the CD ripping thread I can't rip a CD, all this since I bought the new version of dBpoweramp. Something seems fundamentally wrong.Comment

If you place a mp3 file in your music folder (on drive c) can Music converter see it if you wanted to convert it?Comment

Re: DSD to FLAC
Hi Spoon
since installing my latest registered version on a Windows 11 machine everything works EXCEPT the DSD File conversion. I do not get offered teh "convert to" for DSD Files in explorer, nor if I start the batch conversion tool does it recognize the fact that audio files are in the directory. Something to do with recognizing what is an audio file and what is not, I guerss. For sure, *.DSF and *.DFF does not get recognized. Maybe this information helps. Would be great if there is a solution.
Thanks for your help

Re: DSD to FLAC
Try uninstalling dBpoweramp, full restart of Windows and reinstall. If you run Batch Converter, then click on Filter, DSD should be listed:
DSD (DSF) .dsf
DSDIFF (DFF) .dffComment

Re: DSD to FLAC
Hi Spoon
thank you.
I have done exactly that, to no avail. DSF & DFF Files are not recognized as audio, and DSD is not an offered conversion option. If I click on the directory and then "convert to" , file converter does not recognize the files contained in the directory
I have just tried a manual association between *.dsf and *.dff with Windows Media player.
That has not made any change either.
I have placed the files on a local disc, a windows network share, a linux network share and a mac network share. Same issue everywhere.
Would be grateful for any further suggestions you might feel able to make.

Re: DSD to FLAC
If you run dBpoweramp Control Centre
and click List / Options next to Audio Codecs
look down to 'Installed Decoders' is DSD Decoder listed?Comment

Re: DSD to FLAC
Thanks Spoon.
DSD was not listed.
Read the current advertising. Decided to upgrade to Version 17 from Version 16,6.
DSD was then offered as an option, and the conversion works fine.
Maybe Version 16.6 and Windows 11 is a no-no ??
Thanks for your help. Love the tool. Can't really live without it.
