mp3 to wma best way for mp3 player

    Hello All,

I recently bought an mp3/wma player (Packard Bell audio key 256 MB)
Am happy with it but discovered that a 192kbps mp3 file is twice the size of a 96kbps wma file and AFAIK no noticable difference in quality.
If I am mistaken please let me know.

I can re-rip my CD's to 96kpbs wma's but was wondering if anyone has advice and or experiences about the quaility loss/settings for converting 128/192kbps mp3 to 96kbps wma's

Music is mainly country, jazz, vocal, some pop music Costello, Talking Heads David Bowie.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

    REgards,

    Gerrit

You could just try it yourself and see. Personally, I can't bear the sound of 96kbps WMA, there's so much distortion in the violins (I usually listen to classic mostly).

AFAIK, transcoding from MP3 to WMA does lose some quality, but it's not as bad as most people want to make you believe. So just give it a shot, try it and see for yourself if it's good enough.
