    Shortened file properties

When I convert my .wma files to lame mp3, any or the file properties (artist, title, album name, etc.) longer than about 20 characters are cut off. Does anyone know if there any way to avoid this?

Do you have dMC configured to only create v1 tags? Try changing the settings to one of the options which creates v2. For example, the "Smart v2" option will only create v2 tags when the information is too big for v1.

How do I change the configuration? I can't find any options or settings menus anywhere.

On the start menu I think it's >> dBpowerAMP Music Converter >> DMC Configuration

Right, I got that far on my own but what I can;t figure out is how to change the settings. They can't be clicked toggled or anything, even highlighted. The onoly options that function are 3 at the bottm that say 'Convert To" on right-click, oiouo tips in info explorer, & explorer id tag property pages. None of those are related to the problem. Shouldn't you be able to adjust the other stuff?

Are you sure you were looking at the dMC Configuration window, on my start menu it is dBpowerAMP Music Converter >> Configuration >> dMC Configuration (I got it slightly wrong before)?

At the top it gives details of the codecs etc. installed and at the bottom are options for the context menus. You want to change the ID3 Tag Formation option to either "Both v1 & v2" or "Smart v1 & v2".

Check out "dMC Configuration" section in the help documentation of dBpowerAMP Music Converter for further information.

Towards the right, it is ID3 tag formation.

I follow the exact path you said. It opens the dMC configuration window that looks like this (use a little imagination, it is in color and has icons where the ** are. The .... are placeholders.) This info appears in a standard Xp window with dMC Configuaration as the title and and [X] button at the top right of the title bar.

That's exactly what I see when I access the configurations. No selections can be changed except for the 3 check boxes and the OK button can be pushed which closes the window. So how do I make adjustments???

I was about to suggest that these options may only appear if you have the powerpack installed, however from the details you listed above I can see it is present.

Sounds like a strange bug to me. Have you tried reinstalling dMC?

Install Release 10.1 of dMC - release 7 is very old.

Don't know why I didn't try that sooner. Installed the new version and everything works great!
