Troubles ripping from CD into LAME MP3s.

I had just upgraded from my old version of dbPowerAMP AC with Audio CD extracter to the new release 10.1 with Audio CD built in. Not satisfied with leaving well enough alone, I also dropped in the latest 3.95.1 LAME encoder dll into the appropriate folder. Unfortunately, that's probably where the problem lies. You see, I had been ripping at the "Studio Quality", 256 kbps CBR with LAME 3.92 with the last release, and as I ripped a CD I thought that by leaving it there it would do what it's always done, flawless set it and forget it MP3 production. Well, it worked well enough, but now they're all VBR files, ranging from 256 to 320, mostly averaging around 270 kbps. It's still at Studio Quality, it still has the shadowed-in radio button that says "Constant Bitrate", but what I see is not what I get. I also tried doing VBR on purpose from 192 to 320, and what I got was a 224 kbps song with one second at the end at 32 kbps.
I have tried reinstalling and automatically uninstalling thanks to the prompt before proceeding, uninstalling then reinstalling, manually going into the registry and folders and deleting everything then reinstalling, and nada. Not even with the included 3.93 encoder will it behave. I'm wondering if there's some bug or something that can be fixed, or hopefully something I simply overlooked. Going for a reformat on this machine is not an option right now, and I'd rather not go for another media type. Any suggestions/speculation?

You could just delete the folder (C:\Program Files\Illustrate\dBpoweramp) and install an older version, which release did you have before R10?

** if you have my audio player, backup your music database first.

Release 8d. I'd like to have all the new features of 10.1, but I guess beggars can't be choosers, dbPowerAMP has always worked great for me regardless and I for making quick MP3 rips there's nothing better. Thanks a lot!

Hey there, quick update. I reinstalled dbPowerAmp release 8 in an attempt to restore the LAME presets to their correct settings without success. After uninstalling automatically, and then manually, and letting my computer boot on and off a couple of days, I reinstalled dbPowerAMP 10, and just encoded Interpol - Turn on the Bright Lights at the autoloaded setting (192 kbps, constant bitrate). It was flawless, so I retried the preset of "Studio Quality". Still VBR 256-320. If you put it back to "No Preset", it stays in that mode despite saying "Constant Bitrate: 256 kbps" at the Rip With Options screen. Manually setting it back to 256 kbps with the slider fixes this. And it does that with LAME 3.95, so even though the presets have gone awry from what I remembered them, it will encode accurately at the manually chosen setting.

Thanks for any and all help, and I hope this will be of use for any future updates!
