format conversion shortens file!

just got dbpoweramp today, been toying with it a ton, love it except -

randomly the converted file (from .wav to .mp3 or .wma) is truncated! a 5 minutes .wav file is now a 3 minute .wma file, a 30 second file is now 26, etc...

anybody have any idea what's happening here? weird frequency or bitrate issues?

Perhaps there is a power pack DSP effect running? (if you installed the power pack)
