Just Curious - DMC Config not showing new lame

    Hey Spoon,
I'm just curious, I replaced the .dll file with the new and improved Lame 3.95. When I hold my cursor over the files, the opo up box telling me I am now converting with 3.95, but the updated codec does not show on the DMC Configuration. Why is this? It's no big deal becuase I am sure it is functioning properly and using the Lame 3.95, but I'm just curious.

I think you'll find that dMC gets the version numbers from individual text files held in the 'version' folder somewhere within C:\Program files\Illustrate\dBPowerAmp\. I manually updated the file Lame.txt to reflect the latest version.

It must be possible to get the version number from the dll. I have Audacity installed and I have configured it to use the same Lame codec and it is able to show the correct version number.

It is just how I handle all the various codecs, it would be a major task to know how each codec reports its version number, text files seemed the easiest.

I suppose it is only an issue if someone wants to update a codec without waiting for the codec installation exe to be updated.

Having an Amiga computer in the past I was used to all the sofware using a standard method for recording version numbers. This made it easy to identify what version of a program or shared library was installed.
