What version of LAME is installed?

Browsing this forum, I was interested to read that a newer version of LAME mp3 is available. Question: How do I check which version of LAME is already installed with dMC? (I have tried all the usual means, but the actrual version is not shown). Also, where would I download v3.95, and the updated .dll if my version is not the up-to-date variety?

Re: What version of LAME is installed?

What I did was go into the "illustrate" folder in the program directory. Then I clicked the "versions" folder and then clicked the "codecs" folder. I then clicked the lame file and it told me that my lame was version 3.93. However, after installing the new 3.95 the versions folder never seemed to pdate and it kept showing my lame to be 3.93. So I ripped a track from a cd and then I located the file using my windows explorer. I put my curser over the file and a pop up box showed information and it told me that the file was encoded using Lame 3.95. So I was pretty sure that my file was updated pretty good.

All you need to do to update your lame is to click this link and download the file and save it on your hardrive where you can find it.

You need a new lame_enc.dll replace dBpoweramps file of the same name.

You need a new lame_enc.dll replace dBpoweramps file of the same name."

Go to the link above and find a mirror to download the file from. Then un-zip the file to a folder that you know where to find it. Then open the folder and you will find the lame_enc.dll in the folder. Simply highlight this one and then right click and copy it.

Now, go to your program files and go to your illustrate folder. open it and go to the codecs folder. now go to the lame folder and click it. There you will find the "lame_enc.dll" file, simply right click and paste it. it will ask you if you are sure you want to overrite the file you will click yes, at this point your encoder as been updated.
